WE GO TOGETHER KITCHEN TOWELS EXAMPLE
We Go Together Like… coffee and donuts! While the individual scenes in this collection are front-facing, a sister collection called Coffee and Donuts has scenes with an overhead view; however, the donut patterns, ginghams, dot patterns, and berries work in both collections. See MORE pattern collections and product suggestions.
GREAT BLUE HERON COTTON BAG EXAMPLE
This charming Great Blue Heron pair regards each other curiously among soft botanicals on a Wedgewood blue background. Other patterns in this collection find these two among pines, cattails, and standing in shallow water, as herons often do. Herons are wading birds who like fish. These beautiful birds look prehistoric when flying, especially when bringing food to their young in their rookeries. They’re amazing to watch. See MORE pattern collections and product suggestions.
LOVE THOSE LILIES MAKEUP BAG EXAMPLE
This pattern of stylized calla lilies and lilies of the valley tossed with pink posies and soft branches on a dark charcoal background makes a quaint makeup or overnight bag that would be easy to spot on a luggage carousel. See MORE pattern collections and product suggestions.
The patterns shown above, and more, are now available for licensing.

MOTORCYCLE MASKS
A clean, detailed illustration is absolutely necessary to show off a subject or a product. Impeccable pen paths are a must for a clean illustration.
For rendering in Adobe Photoshop, closed pen paths are brought in from Adobe Illustrator and used as masks for rendering. Path shapes must have a perfect kiss-fit.
Over 200 reference photos, at various angles, were taken for this motorcycle illustration. See MORE illustration work.
GOOD REFERENCES ARE A MUST
One way or another, good reference is needed for detailed work. Reference is usually supplied in the form of parts, photos, and sometimes blueprints for backup. In the absence of reference, photos can be taken on-site, if permitted. This piece started as a vector drawing and was rendered in Photoshop.
For all-vector rendering, shading can be done with meshes and to a certain degree, unique vector appliances can be created for special effects. See MORE illustration work.
DAFFODIL SIMPLE BEZIER PATHS
Even simpler subjects begin with perfect pen paths, with no more anchor points than absolutely necessary to assure smooth curves with no unsightly bumps to distract or detract from the essence of the subject. These vector paths were brought into Photoshop to facilitate perfect rendering masks. See MORE illustration work.
Illustration stands out when an ordinary photograph just won't do.

JUNGLE DEW PUZZLE (LICENSED)
Jungle Dew, licensed on a puzzle, is a version similar to Jungle Drop. Photo art uses digital assets like drawing pieces, painted textures, ephemera, and more, blended into a conceptual piece. In this case we needed more textured areas for a puzzle and the large drop was enlarged to take up most of the frame.
Photo illustrations can make eye-catching book or publication covers, lead-in art for a magazine story or article, and some can be licensed on products like puzzles, throw blankets, wall hangings, and many more. See MORE photo illustration work.
OPEN WATER PUBLISHED IN SPOTLIGHT #34 MAGAZINE
Most recently, Open Water appeared in Spotlight 34, the September-October issue of Spotlight Magazine, and the December 2023 issue of Living the Photo Artistic Life. The inspiration for this piece was during a blizzard last Christmas and thinking about geese and waterfowl looking for open water. Some of these birds stick around for the winter. See MORE photo illustration work.
RECLAMATION & THE MAKING OF A CLOWN PUBLISHED
While many of the photo art pieces featured above have been published, quite a few more have been just as fortunate. Reclamation and The Making of a Clown appeared in the June 2021 issue of Living the Photo Artistic Life Magazine. Organic Mechanics, Spirit, Free Fall, and Screech Punk have also had their “page in the sun”, so to speak. See MORE photo illustration work.
