Spirit

PHOTO ILLUSTRATION

Spirit explores a life that is no more. People can accomplish so many things in life, leaving behind a legacy for others. There is an overgrowth, a busting out of the box in which someone once lived. After a time, memories remain, although some of it becomes fuzzy. Sometimes we can’t perfectly remember someone’s face; we can only picture a semblance of that person. Nothing diminishes what they did, how they lived, who they loved, but our memories become more liquid. Spirit tries to capture that frustrating phenomenon, where the memories are there, but we just can’t quite see all of it with our mind’s eye. The swallow symbolizes happiness, love, and freedom; it seemed appropriate for a spirit that is now free.

Spirit appeared in the January 2021 issue of Living the Photo Artistic Life.
