Burning

Burning utilizes a paper texture collaged background, as paper burns easily. Sadly, the inspiration for this piece was the forest fires out west. So much has been destroyed, while the world watches, as characterized by the flame reflected in the eye. Birds and other wildlife are in peril and are losing habitat, hence the birds and feather. The watercolor feathers at left create negative space for subliminal flame shapes in the background, while the trinkets symbolize mankind’s consumption. The mechanical plotting of the buttons around the circle was done in Illustrator and brought into Photoshop.
