A Different Kind of Garden

PHOTO ILLUSTRATION

A Different Kind of Garden is a whimsical piece blending painted backgrounds, hand drawn line work and conventionally rendered florals, with some original vector art. I use licensed assets, bits that have been created specifically for this kind of work, for much of my collage work, while adding elements of my own. The background here was build by carefully blending three of my own acrylic painted backgrounds, and the copper wire line work is my own original vector artwork drawn in Illustrator and manipulated in Photoshop. I have gobs of assets to choose from (one has to for this kind of work), but I didn’t have anything with the amount and type of brush strokes and paper texture that I envisioned for this piece. I don’t always know exactly what I want to do, but I do know what kind of feel I want, most of the time. I wanted to create something colorful, misty-shadowy, with organic and geometric elements complementing one another. Loose, not too perfect, but plenty of verve.
