ILLUSTRATION
At left we see some food-related vector spot illustrations, all of which are available for licensing. Please see the Surface Design section of this website for full collections.
We Go Together
We go together like… coffee and donuts. Three retro coffee pots on rumpled gingham napkins, featuring a donut or bagel on a plate with some fruit, and a steaming cup of coffee, each on a curvy Modern Art shape, reminiscent of the amoeba and kidney shapes on restaurant tables and counter tops. (Modern Art is now lumped in with Mid-Century Modern, which encompasses many styles, as if everything from that era was one thing. It wasn’t.)
These illustrations are from the We Go Together collection, and are available separately. The blue-themed percolator illustration is also available without the type.
Coffee & Donuts
Three top view vector spot illustrations from my Coffee & Donuts collection, with the coffee and donuts theme, available separately, and also available without the type. I had two visions and completed them both. These feature overhead views of coffee-filled cups, two donuts, and some fruit on rumpled gingham napkins. The coffee has some latte art on top (kind of) like you get from fancy coffee stores, but I don’t frequent those places, so I drew my own to fit the artwork. I’ll say this though, I dare any barista to manage that tulip.
From the same collection, we also have Nine Donuts on a Plate, on some slightly rumpled blue gingham. I read recently that there is a company out there, that shall remain nameless, that is trying to copyright blue gingham! Ridiculous, but while I do have straight (squared-up) blue, red, and brown gingham patterns available (not shown), I’m not taking any chances; all my gingham is slightly wavy (and repeats perfectly).
The donuts on the plate are all the donuts created for Coffee & Donuts and We Go Together. They were SO much fun to create.
Sangria & Citrus
Sangria & Citrus is a vector illustration from my Sangria Refresh collection. Sangria was poplular in the 1970s. Very refreshing as long as you didn’t overindulge, I’m guessing. There were lots of recipes in magazines of the time. Fondue was big, too. I always liked the idea of the citrus and sometimes other fruit in a drink. Here, I wanted to illustrate a glass vessel with liquid, in a more relaxed style than what I am used to. There will be more to come like that. Too relaxed is not for me: I like vessels to look like vessels.
